Founded in 1971, IKEM is a nationwide, state-run, specialized clinical and research hospital managed directly by the Czech Ministry of Health Clinics On Call. It comprises four main centers—the Cardiac Centre, Transplantation Centre, Diabetes Centre, and Experimental Medicine Centre—with a total of approximately 315 beds, including 111 ICU beds
